HUGH CORNWELL BRINGS THE OLD AND THE NEW TO MOLES
Hugh Cornwell
Hugh Cornwell

03 November 2009

Legendary ex Stranglers Hugh Cornwell will be appearing in an intimate show at Moles in Bath on Wednesday November 18th showcasing in full, not only his acclaimed new solo album Hoover Dam but also the entire groundbreaking Stranglers first album, Rattus Norvegicus IV.

With the backing of a full band featuring Caroline Campbell (bass) and Chris Bell (drums), the 2 ½ hour show offers the Bath audience a strictly limited capacity crowd of 200 people to hear two masterpieces in one evening ahead of his headline show at The 02 Academy, London Islington two days later.

With classic tracks such as Hanging Around and Peaches, this will be an impressive and for some nostalgic set which should not be missed.

When asked why he had chosen the intimate venue of Moles, Hugh said The Moles gig is so local to me. I used to spend a lot of time and money drinking in Moles, when I heard Curt Smith say dont you know who I am? to a girl he was trying to pull there one time! It holds a lot of memories for me and Ive never played there before. It was the scene of a drinking bout that led to the cancellation of the reformation of Led Zeppelin about 20 years ago, that alone should guarantee it a place in a rock and roll hall of fame.

Hugh enjoyed massive UK and European success in the 17 year period that he was in The Stranglers. The success of Hoover Dam and this highly anticipated UK tour, show that his vitality and vigour remain undimmed and that he is still one of the UKs finest songwriting talents and live performers.

To kick off the evening Moles will be offering a two for the price of one deal on Grolsch Blonde between 7.30pm and 9pm.

Tickets are available on a first come first served basis from this website or The Porter 15 George Street Bath.

For more details about this gig you can call 01225404445 or email kath@moles.co.uk

We traveled to Bath last June and ate at your pub. It took me until today to find the name of it, after googling like crazy for vegetarian pubs, and matching it to the photo I took.

All that aside, we live in sunny Naples, FL, USA and I have traveled extensively throughout the states and Europe and must say I have never had vegetarian food as good, fresh, and delish as at your pub.

As a lacto only vegetarian, Im often stuck getting just a hummus platter, or grilled cheese, but my mom and I feasted at your pub (the BEST falafel I've ever had!), got terrific service, yummy cider, fun local color, good music, and an all around perfect evening.

I want to thank you so much for being available and being the highlight dining experience of our trip last summer!
