Blackbud are one of Moles' favourite bands, having reached the finals of the BOTB '03, and also graced the Porter Cellar Bar, and Moles stages on numerous occasions, as well as for some unofficial A & R showcases.  We've all had our fingers crossed for some while for the lads in the band, particularly after they recorded a superb demo in Moles Recording Studio earlier in the year  with Paul Corkett the well known producer. We've lifted the story below directly from the news section of Blackbud's website.

"BlackBud signed a record deal on Friday 9th July. It was a pretty intense process over the last 10 - 12 weeks or so with the band having been approached by a lot of labels.
It narrowed down to 2 major and 1 large independent offering good deals.

It was an incredibly difficult decision for us that wasn't fully sorted out until the night of the signing!
In the end we decided that the culture of the band better matched an independent label and we have signed with Independiente.

We will be working directly with Andy Macdonald who has broken great songwriting talent such as Portishead, Travis, Beautiful South, The La's, Billy Bragg, Gabrielle, The Housemartins and Paul Weller's solo career.
