Now that the smoking ban has been enforced it's good to have some positive feedback on the subject. We recently received this email from non smoking Julie and Colin Deady. Even though not everybody agrees with the smoking ban we thought you might like to read what they have to say on the subject:-

"I'd like to pass on some feedback to The Porter now that the smoking ban is about to come into force. Myself and my husband regularly visit Bath but have only been to The Porter once before. The food was fantastic... no complaints there... but the smoke spoiled the experience and since then we have not returned (we're both non-smokers).
However now that the smoking ban is in place, we definitely plan on visiting The Porter and hope to become regular customers.

What with all the talk about whether pubs will loose business with smokers not being able to light-up inside, I thought it was important to let you know that non-smokers like myself and my husband will bring in new business as we will be able to eat in places like The Porter which up until now we have avoided due to the smoke.

I wish The Porter all the best and hope you view the smoking ban as a positive thing for both your customers and your employees!

Regards,
Julia and Colin Deady."

It's nice to know that there are some people who will be pleased with the ban, even if lots of regular pub goers aren't. On reflection, as we are a veggie pub, and a lot of veggies are non-smokers, like Julia and Colin, we will probably see more people coming in to eat as a consequence of the new "smoke-free" atmosphere in the Porter.
