Porter cellar Bar

This new performance space, created from scratch in some disused and warren like cellars under the original pub has a great ambience, and feels like it has always been in existence! There, snugly ensconced in one of the vaulted cellars, you can listen to free live music from Monday to Thursday, and get ready for the weekend with classy club DJs Friday and Saturday. The Comedy Cavern which runs every Sunday (see their own site - link at bottom) is a great way to start the week by putting a smile on your face - a good way to cope with the Monday blues.

Upstairs, as well as the friendly and lively main bar, which features a cool sound system with two pairs of thumpingly good Bose speakers, there is a quieter room which was added shortly after the cellar bar. This new space, just off the main bar, but away from the general hub-bub, is a perfect space for those who just want to chat to their friends and watch the world go by.

The excellent (don’t just take our word for it) veggie food is among the best in Bath, and everything is cheap as chips! The food is available from 11am to 9pm, and a particular favorite is the all day breakfast – so it’s one of the few places you can eat without going overdrawn, if you didn’t have time to cook before going out on the town.

The wide range of bottled beers, premium draught lagers selection of real ales, and interesting choices on the spirit shelves remain as attractive as ever. If you like a drop of decent wine, there are 8 to choose from, which includes an organic white, and organic red. Cheers! The recently purchased espresso coffee machine – we use fair-trade coffees from Café Direct – is proving very popular - we might have to get a bigger one soon!
