The Tumbleweeds

Hi and welcome to jaaaazzzzzzz club. Light up your cigars, sit back and enjoy the smooth sounds of The Tumbleweeds. Consisting of double bass, acoustic bass, keys (chicken box Tony!), acoustic guitar, trumpet, sax and vocals we were treated to just over an hour of swing, jazz and blues. The vibe was great and the lead vocalist (also sax player) had a deep and husky voice and even a grin that reminded me of Louie himself. The fact that he wasn't black obviously made a bloody big difference as well. That aside we got some great vocal harmonies behind "I could be like those other guys". The trumpet player did some great harmonica playing at one point. They took a break mid set and only four returned, the double bassist, two acoustic guitars and acoustic bass introducing themselves as the Hot Bath Quartet. They played a couple of uptempo numbers before the rest of the band returned to play some gypsy jazz...almost viva l' espagna (my spanish was never great). "I only wanted to go to the hospital, it was a routine operation" were the words that heralded the climax as one by one the musicians left the stage leaving the keyboardist and the sav player. The sax player then walked through the audience still playing and headed for the bar. With that the show was over! A great atmosphere and very relaxing music to chill out to on a Friday night.
