the Cedar
![]() the cedar 27 March 2007 Neil Gay has become quite a character on the Bath music scene. He is compere to most of the open mic nights and is widely known for his one-liners and cheeky introductions. It is all too easy to forget that primarily he is a brilliant musician in his own right.
Lyrically it's pretty bleak. It's angst ridden and seems to be full of frustration and heart ache which is strange because it seems to be quite at odds with the personality he projects on stage. Oh these poor tormented artists! It was interesting to hear some new tracks and I really like the direction the band seem to be going in. I think there is a slight danger of some the songs sounding a bit too poor me and ‘why does it always rain on me' but then I'm not exactly one to talk!
Was a great night and you can't really help but get drawn in. If you don't like the music then at least you'll learn something. The violinist seems to know some pretty weird and wonderful general knowledge. Mostly linked to Argentina and dinosaurs from what I could work out! Charley Bickers |
